Ken Smith is a Co-Founder and the CEO of Smith-Hodge CPAs. Smith-Hodge primarily works for sole-proprietors and small businesses who require accounting services as connected with using Quickbooks Online (QBO). QBO is the most-favored cloud based financial management software solution for small businesses. Ken is a Certified “Advanced” Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor. Accordingly, Ken can work with QBO clients needing only basic accounting solutions to those requiring very complex solutions.

Ken has many years of diversified experience working as a professional accountant. He served 13 years as the Controller/CFO at Knust-SBO, a large Houston-based manufacturer of precision machined mechanical parts. Ken started a Knust-SBO budgetary control program and initiated action to strengthen procedures for planning, evaluating and controlling the acquisition of expensive machining centers. He led action to departmentalize Knust-SBO’s shop overhead structure to achieve closer control of overhead costs, and improved costing of jobs.

Ken worked in public accounting for four years as a senior manager for Grant Thornton LLP. He primarily served on national-scale financial reconstruction jobs as associated with companies victimized by major financial fraud.

Additionally, Ken worked for eight years as the corporate accounting manager at Triten Corporation, a private holding company, primarily rooted in commercial real estate development and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) management projects. Ken prepared the company’s consolidated financial statements. And he served as the company’s in-house GAAP consultant, responsible for interpreting and properly implementing GAAP pronouncements.

Ken is a certified public accountant (CPA) in Texas, and he is a Certified “Advanced” Quickbooks Online ProAdvisor. Ken serves as a deacon and volunteer at Second Baptist Church / Houston Woodway Campus. He graduated from Baylor University where he studied accounting and finance. Ken met his wife, Connie, at Baylor. They are the proud parents of three daughters and grandparents to ten grandchildren.

Courtney Hodge
Co-Founder

Courtney Hodge co-founded Smith-Hodge CPAs with her dad, Ken.

Courtney maintained a 4.0 GPA at the University of Texas at Austin (UT). She graduated from UT with a Master’s in Professional Accounting degree (MPA). She graduated #1 in her MPA class. And she passed the CPA exam in just one try.

Courtney launched her public accounting career with KPMG. She rapidly advanced with KPMG leading audit engagements in a variety of industries. However, Courtney’s first calling was to become a devoted wife and mother. She is now married to Justin Hodge. Justin is a highly successful lawyer at “Johns Marrs Ellis & Hodge LLP,” a law firm he co-founded.

Courtney is now the proud mother of four children. She continues to work hard and very successfully at being an accomplished homemaker. However, additionally, she supports her dad’s accounting / bookkeeping work at Smith-Hodge CPAs.
